BOOKKEEPING - FAQS

WHAT IF I PROVIDE MY OWN BOOKS?

We understand you may already have your books prepared and believe they might be tax-ready. That’s a great starting point — but here are a few important considerations before filing:

  • Accuracy & Compliance: A professional with tax expertise can review your records to ensure they’re accurate, align with current tax laws, and reduce the risk of costly errors on your return.

  • Tax Optimization: Clean books don't always mean tax-efficient books. We often identify missed deductions or reporting strategies that can lead to meaningful tax savings.

  • Time & Peace of Mind: By handing your bookkeeping over to us, you avoid the last-minute stress of double-checking everything during tax season.

  • Potential Red Flags: Incomplete reconciliations, duplicate entries, or outdated categorizations are common in DIY books. These issues can lead to IRS notices, delays, or missed opportunities.

  • Scalability & Strategy: As your business grows, clean books aren't just about taxes — they're a tool for making smarter financial decisions. We can help structure your books to give you clearer insight and support your goals year-round

  • Review Fees: As part of our engagement, our firm is responsible for preparing tax returns based on the information provided by the taxpayer and, when applicable, the taxpayer’s bookkeeper or accounting team. In order to do so, we must conduct a professional review of the financial records to ensure they appear reasonable, consistent with tax reporting requirements, and suitable for use in return preparation. This process requires tax expertise, technical judgment, and frequently involves multiple communications between our team and any third-party bookkeeping or accounting providers engaged by the taxpayer. Our review ensures that we can, to the best of our professional knowledge, prepare an accurate return in accordance with current tax law and applicable standards. The Review Fee reflects the time and expertise necessary to perform this work and is a required part of the tax preparation process when the taxpayer’s records have not been maintained or provided in a tax-prep-ready format.
